REACH

In a nutshell, REACH is a European Union regulation that requires manufacturers and importers of chemicals to register, evaluate and authorize the use of chemicals, in order to protect human health and the environment from adverse effects associated with the use of these substances.

Description:

REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. It is a European Union regulation that aims to protect human health and the environment from harmful chemicals.

REACH requires manufacturers, importers and users of chemical substances to notify them to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and conduct a safety assessment of them. If a substance is harmful, ECHA can impose restrictions or bans on its use.

With REACH, consumers are more assured that substances used in products are safe, and manufacturers are required to report potential risks associated with their substances. REACH is also intended to encourage the use of safer chemicals and research into alternatives.

Here are the main features of REACH:

Registration of chemicals: manufacturers and importers must register chemicals with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) before placing them on the market.
Evaluation of substances

RoHS

In a nutshell, RoHS is a European Union regulation that restricts the use of six hazardous substances (including lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium VI, PCBe and certain bromine compounds) in electrical and electronic devices, in order to protect human health and the environment by reducing the amount of hazardous substances in these devices.

Description:

RoHS is an acronym for the English-language term "Restriction of Hazardous Substances." It is a European Union regulation that restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

The RoHS Directive places restrictions on the use of six hazardous substances, including lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium VI, PCBe and certain bromine compounds. The restrictions are designed to protect human health and the environment by reducing the amount of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

The RoHS regulation applies to a wide range of electrical and electronic devices, such as televisions, computers, cell phones, household appliances, electric toys and many others.

The RoHS Directive requires manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment to declare compliance with its requirements and use proper product labeling. Manufacturers who fail to comply with RoHS face financial penalties and the loss of the ability to sell products on the European Union market.

FSC

In a nutshell, FSC is an international certification system that ensures that wood comes from forests managed in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, environmental protection and workers' rights, which contributes to the preservation of biodiversity and protects the environment.

Description:

The FSC - or Forest Stewardship Council - is an organization that certifies forests and wood and paper products.

FSC is the most credible of the forest resource certification systems currently in existence in the world as the only one supported by major environmental organizations and numerous indigenous communities. FSC's governance structure is based on 3 stakeholder groups: social, environmental and economic, evenly represented in the organization's management and decision-making process.

The scope of the certificate covers only the first stage of the production chain - the sourcing of raw material. Adherence to FSC guidelines makes it possible to harvest timber, taking into account social, economic and environmental aspects.

Here what matters, among other things, is preserving the vitality of forests and their biological wealth. The FSC system is currently considered one of the most reliable among existing forest resource certification systems in the world. Therefore, it is the only one endorsed by major environmental organizations.

More than 148 million hectares of forests in the world (about 5 times the area of Poland) are currently certified according to FSC standards.

Here are the main features of FSC:

a guarantee that products come from responsibly managed forests,
the ability to label your products with a globally known mark,
creation of a positive corporate image,
the opportunity to expand the market for your products,
increasing awareness and interest in the origin of products among consumers.
